Kate's voice is well known to acoustic music fans through her positions as lead vocalist in the bluegrass group Stoney Lonesome and as one of the Hopeful Gospel Quartet (along with Garrison Keillor and Robin and Linda Williams) from A Prairie Home Companion.

Kate's solo career is skyrocketing as her voice easily earns her a place in the ranks of nationally known bluegrass vocalists, but is unmistakeable with its maturity and depth of feeling. It has warmth and power...she puts so much soul and emotion into her singing that critics are calling her style a combination of the smoky smoothness of Patsy Cline with the power of Hazel Dickens.
